CHRISTUS Health

CHRISTUS Health is a Catholic, not-for-profit health system that encompasses more than 600 locations. With each location having its own operational infrastructure, the organization sought to consolidate 19 ledger systems, 16 supply chain management systems, and countless third-party products.

Solutions

During the February 2020 go-live, CHRISTUS Health was in the process of refining its implementation training, communication, and data validation. But as the pandemic shut down in-person activities, the implementation team quickly responded by shifting training to virtual and limited in-person formats and created step-by-step user guides for those learning at home.

Technology supports continuity

Prior to implementing CloudSuite Healthcare’s supply chain management functionality, CHRISTUS Health lacked visibility into supplies across its facilities. When Infor CloudSuite™ Healthcare started acting as the organization’s centralized operations platform for managing the supply chain, however, CHRISTUS Health gained the ability to find items at any of its locations and redeploy them where needed.

CHRISTUS Health used this new-found capability to set up a supply warehouse at its Irving headquarters over a weekend, stocking and distributing protective personal equipment (PPE) to its various ministries. While the organization focused on making the most of its new clinical supply chain capabilities, it was also able to supply its staff with remote work technologies (such as laptops and internet access) to allow them to work productively from their homes.

Even in the face of storms and a technology implementation, we were able to jump in and quickly make sure our Associates received disaster or emergency pay in their accounts. That is something that would have taken days or longer prior to Infor CloudSuite Healthcare system.

The payables team has gained organization-wide visibility into invoices with audit trail and approval history, enabling it to provide essential, actionable information to manage vendors, associates, and auditors. This allows CHRISTUS Health to better support contract compliance and standardization in the supply areas, which it expects will lead to significant savings over time.

Today, CHRISTUS Health’s 30,000 Associates access Infor® CloudSuite Healthcare’s people solutions for HR and workforce management—for everything from time keeping to scheduling. In addition, more than 30 of CHRISTUS Health’s hospitals, its health plans, physician organizations, and ambulatory centers use Infor tools to report financials around their supply- and HR-related activities. With these core functions in place in the cloud, the organization then began to expand its healthcare operations platform by rolling out expense management capabilities and by looking at additional ways to further optimize workforce management.
